The tools listed on this site are small, independently-made desktop apps. None of them have a server — everything runs locally on your own machine. There is no analytics, no tracking, and nothing is ever sent to me or to any third party.
Deadline Detector & Google Calendar
Deadline Detector can optionally connect to your Google Calendar so your active deadlines show up alongside the rest of your schedule. This is entirely opt-in — the app works fully without it — and you can disconnect at any time from its menu.
What this connection does:
- It requests the
calendar.eventsscope only — permission to create, update, and delete events, not to read your existing calendar or any other Google data. - For each active (not-yet-completed) deadline, it creates one event on your primary calendar with the task's name, due date/time, and its "next step" note if you set one.
- Editing a deadline's due date updates that event; completing or deleting a deadline removes it.
- Disconnecting removes every event the app created and revokes its access to your Google account — nothing is left behind.
The Google account credentials used for this (an encrypted refresh token) are stored only on your own computer, using your operating system's built-in encryption (Windows Credential/DPAPI). They never leave your machine except to talk directly to Google's Calendar API — I do not have a copy, and there is no server in between.
